In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Cupertino; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–2:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. We had a very good experience here. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and the server was very attentive and friendly. We also received a free soup for each person during weekday dinner, though I’m not sure if that is a regular offer. One of the dishes we ordered, Hu Xiang Rou Si, was much sweeter than we expected. After we mentioned it to the manager, she was extremely kind and immediately asked if we would prefer a refund or a replacement. We really appreciated that. She even came by twice afterward to make sure we were taken care of and also offered us a small sweet side dish because of the situation. For me, this kind of attitude says a lot about a restaurant. Not every place stands behind the food they serve, but they handled the issue with kindness and professionalism. Even though one dish was not to our taste, the way they treated customers absolutely deserves 5 stars.

I’ve been here many times, and whenever I’m craving Sichuan food, this is one of the first places that comes to mind. This visit was just as good as the previous ones. The stinky tofu was excellent as always crispy on the outside with an authentic flavor and great texture. The tofu fish was another highlight. The fish was tender and silky, and the broth was flavorful with a perfect balance of spicy and savory flavors. The brown sugar rice cakes were delicious as well crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, with just the right amount of sweetness. They were also my kids’ favorite dish. The only item that didn’t fully match my preference was the fried rice. The flavor was good, but it was a little too moist for my taste. I personally prefer fried rice that is drier and more separated. Overall, it was another satisfying meal, and I’ll definitely be back again.

A great place for Sichuan and Hunan cuisine! We tried Salt-fried shrimp and it tasted so great. Definitely worth to try it if you like spicy food! They offer free soup everyday, today was Pork and Radish Soup. Great place for family and friends gathering!

Don’t let the name fool you! Grandma’s Kitchen in Cupertino actually serves Hunan and Sichuan cuisine. We had seen a mix of positive and negative reviews on social media, so we decided to give it a try. The interior of the venue is bright, clean, and welcoming. We ordered the Spicy Pork Elbow, Stir-fried Bullfrog with Pickled Peppers, and Stinky Tofu. Overall, the food was good. We especially enjoyed the stir-fried bullfrog and the stinky tofu, both of which had great flavor. The Spicy Pork Elbow was a bit over-fried; a shorter frying time would likely make the inside juicier and more tender. The service staff were very friendly and even offered us a complimentary sample of sticky rice sticks. Overall, we had a positive experience and would consider visiting again when we’re in the area.

Have been coming here consistently for about 2 years. Always my go to option when I don’t know what to eat. The chef is very passionate and releases new dishes almost every month. Almost every dish is delicious and fun. I’ve brought friends and family to this place and everyone fell in love immediately. I’ve never had anything not great from here. The price and proportion is also fantastic. Very down to earth and comforting. The waitresses are also super helpful and friendly. 超级好吃!咸蛋黄豆苗非常鲜嫩。霸王香辣肘子也麻辣爽口。非常推荐!
